So the town of Pripyat and the neighbouring villages are a bit of a tourist destination, particularly for photographers and gamers. This meant that a lot of the items left strewn about in peoples homes or the old schools either weren’t the original items, or had been moved around for dramatic effect. In an old school we visited, a bunch of gas masks had been laid out along with toy dolls. Now this school did have gas masks (this was common during the period in Soviet Russia) but the dolls had been brought in by someone long after the evacuation. It made everything feel a little bit artificial which was really odd and not what I expected.
