Yikes. Big-head time. I think it’s a toss-up between generally being quite good at stuff (not brilliant, just quite good, but at quite a few things), and being “constructively disruptive”. I don’t think you get to do influential science by just following rules; the good stuff comes when you challenge assumptions and norms… in the right way.
The balance to this is that I’m not the most organised and am often doing things at the last minute or being distracted, and it can take me a while to get research projects finished. I hope they tend to be interesting, though!
Ahh I always struggle to answer questions like this. I’d say I’m pretty determined and don’t give up on things that are important to me which has come in useful.
