Growing up I always loved Science at school, I particularly enjoyed Biology and Chemistry so decided to study Biochemistry at university. After that it just so happened my first job was in hazardous waste management and I loved that it was never the same everyday.
I always enjoyed science when I was younger and could really see myself in a science career (I also knew there were lots of jobs in a STEM sector, so that swayed me a little too).
Science and Maths were always my favourite subjects at school, but I always enjoyed just about every other subject too, so it was a really tough decision. Ultimately, nuclear won out, and I think it’s because I find it so interesting (and challenging!), and an understanding of nuclear gives you a fundamental understanding of how the world works – there is always something more to learn about.
I thought for a long time that being a teacher would be great, but I figured out soon that I am better at technical things. With getting my A-levels, I felt the urge to go study, since my parents did not, and then I wanted to get a PhD. This is my goal which I am currently obtaining.
