Hard question! When I was in school, I would have definitely answered biology but during my studies I found my love for physics. Of which I was always sure is that I have a difficult relationship with chemistry!
All biology is chemistry and physics when you break it down, and all chemistry is really just a subset of physics. I would counter with ‘Physics or Maths’ – most physics is just applied maths, but maths cannot always account for the reality of the physical interactions that we observe around us, so it’s more a question about whether you prefer pure theory vs more practical applications. For the record, I actually did Natural Sciences for my undergraduate degree – a mix of physics, chemistry, biology, maths, and materials, and my current research borrows knowledge from every discipline.
As a Physicist, I should really say Physics…. But I did love Biology at school and I very nearly took that on to university instead. I wonder what I would be doing now if I had made that choice…
