This is a good question as I had to think about when I think I became a scientist. I had my first experience of working in the nuclear industry when I did a year of work experience during my undergraduate chemistry degree so I guess that counts. That was back in the academic year of 2013/14 so that means I’ll be coming up to about 9 years of working as a scientist either in industry or as a researcher (PhD/postdoctoral researcher). Which is quite long now I think about it! 😬

I only started my graduate scheme in October so I’m pretty new to the nuclear industry, as I graduated from university with a masters degree in chemistry in June.

I graduated just over 10 years ago, it doesn’t seem like it was that long ago.

I’ve been working in the nuclear industry for over 12 years and joined as a Physics graduate but throughout my career I’ve worked on various different things – some very science-based, others more engineering or safety case.

I am doing my PhD now for 1.5 years but before that I also had some small jobs in research.
