People have many reasons for believing or not believing in God/religion. Each scientist’s faith or lack thereof is based on their own personal experiences. However, scientists spend much of their life attempting to rigorously prove different hypotheses, and an important aspect of being a good scientist is to ask lots of questions and to be doubtful of information that can’t be proven. Most religious belief requires faith, which is belief without proof. It can be difficult for some scientists to have that kind of belief because of the way that they look at the world. Remember though, that there are many scientists of all faiths, and that religious belief is neither a requirement nor a disqualification for being a scientist!
