Carbon dioxide is a very important gas for most living things on Earth. Plants breathe IN carbon dioxide and animals breathe it OUT. The problem currently is that there is so much CO2 (this is another way to write carbon dioxide) that it is out of balance with other gases like oxygen, which has negative consequences.
