What an interesting question! One of the earliest inventions in human history was probably the wheel, or if you want to go before that stone tools. It’s really difficult to pinpoint where “science history” might start. The first major breakthrough (which we also use in modern science) I can think of is in maths, a lot of the theorems and equations by Pythagoras (one of the ancient greeks) who found equations to e.g. help calculate areas and angles in triangles.
I’d be really keen to hear someone else’s thoughts on this too though! 🙂
