Interesting question! The deadliest viruses so far are probably Influenza (flu – as in the deadly Spanish flu outbreak), Ebola, or Smallpox. HIV has also cost a lot of lives.
Luckily, nowadays with vaccines and other treatments, historically deadly viruses like Influenza or Smallpox aren’t that big of a problem anymore – this is why outbreaks of new viruses like Ebola are more dangerous now.
Therefore, the most dangerous virus is probably one that hasn’t made it over to humans yet! New outbreaks happen when viruses mutate to be able to infect humans, for example the “bird flu” and “swine flu” pandemics happened when a strain of these viruses happened to mutate and be able to infect human cells. This is dangerous because then a virus that humans & their immune systems aren’t used can suddenly spread through the human population.
