Question: How did you get into Antibiotic Resistance and Biotechnology?

More or less by chance – while I was doing a research project for my Master’s degree, somebody who I was working with advertised for a PhD in this topic. I thought it sounded really interesting so applied for it, and that’s what I’m doing now.

What attracted me to it regarding antibiotic resistance is that this is such an important issue to research – if we don’t do anything, our common drugs used to treat bacterial infections will stop working in the next several years!
Regarding biotechnology, I already got to play around with different DNA sequences and genetically modifying bacteria during my Master’s and thought it was really cool and exciting, and very rewarding when you finally get something to work.
