      Some scientists and companies are researching into so-called “Carbon capture technologies”. These aim to pull carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere in one way or the other, and ideally use it for something useful – this should at least counteract some carbon dioxide emissions, and if emissions are low enough could reverse pollution to an extent. Some are actually doing this with genetically modified bacteria, which is really cool!

      The trick is to develop these technologies far enough so they don’t actually waste too much energy pulling the carbon out of the atmosphere, which isn’t easy. I’m not sure about the current state of research, but hopefully some of these technologies should be ready to be rolled out in the next few years 🙂
