• Question: Why do you love science so much and when did you begin to enjoy finding out about it

      I love the challenge, I think, combined with feeling like I’m making a positive contribution to the future of society! I quite enjoyed science at school, but it was only really when I started studying physics and applied to do a degree course that I got really enthused about it – and once I got going there was no stopping me!

      I love science as I find it changes every day and it never gets boring! There will always be something new to find out!
      I have been interested since I was very small and I did my first experiments on worms in our garden, trying to watch them eat leaves! I really started understanding science when i was at secondary school as I got to study biology properly!

      I love science because it means you get to see things that no-one has ever seen before. In my research, those things are new species of animals, and parts of our planet that no-one has previously visited.

      I’ve always been fascinated to find out more about the world around me, and the different kinds of life on Earth, for as long as I can remember.
