I believe there are some studies which show that sitting for too long is bad for you, but you probably don’t need to worry about it.
Doing any one thing for too long probably increases the chances of some health issues, but it probably reduces the chances of other things happening. Sitting still for long periods of time us probably bad for your circulation (if only because you’re not getting any exercise, which is generally good for you, but even then if you did LOTS of exercise all the time, you’d increase the chances of hurting yourself in other ways (professional athletes have terrible health problems).
The problem is that there are so many things that contribute that its almost impossible to say with certainty doing one things will make you sick in particular ways. Smoking is about as certain as we can get – yes it IS REALLY bad for you, but it took about 50 years of research before the evidence reached a point where people couldn’t ignore it any longer.
