      Hi sana

      I love your questions!! Yes, it would help to insulate you from the cold and this is done by a special kind of fat called brown fat (as the name suggests it’s brown in colour). This kind of fat is predominantly more in babies when they are born and reduces with age. This helps in a process we call as thermoregulation. However, having a good amount of muscle also helps to a great extent as muscle increases the basal metabolic rate and produces heat in the body. For this reason, humans living in the higher latitudes have more muscle compared to populations living in the tropical latitudes.
