• Question: If the worlds population was to decrease what would happen?

      The world’s population has been a lot less in the past, so in the big picture, not a lot would happen. I would guess most of the changes would be social and political – food supply (both surpluses, and shortages as less people eat, but less people farm), places to live, jobs.

      Entire species become extinct all the time, and the world carries on pretty much as it was.

      It would depend on how much it would decrease, but it would probably mean more land available for farming and more food to go around. At the moment, with our population increasing at the rate it is, we’re not going to have enough food to feed everyone in 20 years, which is why we’re looking at more genetically modified crops and lab-grown burgers!
