      Indirectly yes.

I work as a researcher at a university, so I rarely get involved directly with individual film projects, but techniques that I’ve developed get picked up by the “technical directors” (TD’s – the programmers, and techie’s who actually work on the shots in movies), and used.

For example I figured out a better way to calculate motion blur that made moving objects look better. I talked with some of the guys at Pixar about it, they built it into their software, and used it on Cars 2.

Just about any movie that comes out now, I’ve probably met/worked with at least a few members of the technical c/g team, and hopefully a few of my ideas make it in.
