      Hi belle2002xx,

I don’t think so! You don’t have to be clever, you have to be hardworking and more importantly very critical of everything you read or hear. As a scientist one has to be very questioning and passionate about why things happen the way they do. They have to be creative to be able to come up with how they can go about answering questions and also open to criticism which is actually helpful for each one of us to improve. All these traits can be learned and the good part is that one does not have to be born with it 😉

Not at all! I think the most important traits you need to become a scientist is creativity, perseverance and a positive attitude. It’s far more important to explore new ideas with motivation and not let unexpected results get you down than it is to have a high IQ!

People don’t do clever things because they’re clever – they’re clever because they do clever things.

If you want to do something, then you go and do it, and learn whatever you need to do it.

Think about a great musician or sports player… people like the idea that someone like that is naturally talented. Maybe they did have some kind of aptitude, but you can bet that the so called naturally talent musician spent hours every day practising for years before they magically because “naturally talented”.
