I think when I was very young I wanted to be a fighter pilot. Then an artist (which, if you’ve ever seen me attempt to paint or draw was always slightly optimistic!)

When I was thinking slightly more realistically I knew I wanted to help cure cancer in some way (my dad was unwell with cancer when I was in primary school) but didn’t know quite how.

When I went to Uni I loved biology and research – and now I get to treat patients with cancer and do my own research on it. I feel lucky to be paid to do what I love!

But my advice to you is: if you have no idea what you want to do/be, don’t worry, most people don’t, I think. Just do things you enjoy, believe me theres no point having a job if you don’t like it.
And if you only have a vague idea of what you want to do, but don’t know how to do it – keep talking and asking people.
There is no “right” way to go about life, just taking opportunities when you see them!

When I was in school I was not quite sure what I wanted to do, just something in the area of Science or Geography – by the time I went to college and then University computing became a big interest of mine and so something in the field of data and science was my main focus, which luckily has since translated into data science so the perfect blend!
