I think I started thinking about “science” when I was young, and as I was growing up and learning more I gradually narrowed it down, first to “physics” and eventually to “particle physics”. I’m at a point where my work is so specialised it could have its own subfield – even though the other people in my office also work in particle physics, they are looking at very different things and we’re constantly learning from one another.

I found my area by accident actually. I really enjoyed history in school, and so I chose to study that at college. I decided then to study ancient history, and so I took another year at college to study classics. Alongside this I took archaeology and anthropology. I ended up loving anthropology a lot more than I did history, and so decided to take it up at university. So it was a bit of a winding journey for me to find the area I want to work in, and all I’ve done since is find ways that I can make it more practical and incorporate it into different industries and jobs. That ultimately lead me to healthcare, and here I am today 🙂
