Yes. They are bound to be. Some information will be kept from us to protect us and some just because there is no need for us to know it. The reasons for information being kept secret may come under fire at times, but with all the information that they have, there is bound to be sensitive information and I’m sure we are best not knowing some of it.

Yes I think they probably are. I still sleep well at night though.
I agree with Gem that certain information is probably incredibly delicate and needs to kept secret – that’s whey we have the Official Secrets Act, to protect information that might cause vulnerability to our country if ti was out in the public forum.

There is also thins thing called a DA-Notice, which is a special notice that requests the media does not broadcast a cetain information in the interest of national security. They aren’t legally enforcable though.

I don’t think they are hiding scientific information from us, political maybe, it is very hard to hide or censor science. Recently studies in to bird flu have been censored but the information will come out soon, I think that some of it has already been published.

I think the government definitely has information that is top secret and not shared for security reasons! Although I hope they share with the public all the information that they can safely!
