There are many volcanoes in england, but none are active.
Why none of them are active is because we are far away from the edge of a tectonic plate.

Active volcanoes are usually found near the edges of tectonic plates (earth’s surface is made of large plates which are constantly moving and are called tectonic plates), and England is nowhere near it.

Inn a global way. The earth is divided by plate tectonics which are moving. Volcano are formed due to the movement of those plates. I think UK use to be close to one …http://www.geolsoc.org.uk/Plate-Tectonics/Chap4-Plate-Tectonics-of-the-UK/Tertiary-Volcanic-Province
