To become a forensic scientist, you may need to get a basic undergraduate degree in forensic science/biological science. Doing a masters (MSc) or a PhD in forensic science gives you more exposure to the research (lab work) part, which can improve your chances of working in an industry/academic labs. University of Lincoln has a very good forensic science course, in case you want to consider joining here. The research they do here is quite good. look out for this news: http://www.lincolnshireecho.co.uk/University-team-s-legal-high-research-TV/story-22043913-detail/story.html
As a forensic scientist. You need a good grounding in one of the sciences chemistry, physics, biology (or a good forensic science degree) you don’t necessarily need a PhD (alot of working forensic scientist don’t have them) but it depends on what you want to do.
I would of course say that the huddersfiled forensic sceince degree is the best!
You don’t really need a PhD just a MSc Forensic Science degree. Look up really carefully which university is the best for you. Also if you are interesting in forensic science look at those websites. http://aafs.org/students/student-career/what-forensic-science
