        Do you mean in atoms instead of particles? An atom is comprised of neutrons, protons and electrons. The neutrons and proton form the nucleus and the electrons orbit it.

        In solids particles are closely packed in a regular pattern. In liquids they are close together in a random arrangement, and in gases they are far apart and arranged randomly.
