Yes, in 2011 a team reported a first self-powered nanosystem with wireless data transmission which turns mechanical vibrations into electricity to power the device. This system is able to transmite data wirelessly over long distances.

Hi Adam, Yes, nanotechnology can be used for wireless long distance data transfer, and presently research is going on at a good pace. Optical nanoantennas have been developed recently which transmit and receive optical signals and allow for fast and long distance data transfer due to less absorption losses to surrounding. As we are seeing lately that the chip size is decreasing day by day, nanoantennas can be really useful in nanocircuits, and it may not be long that you will find it in the market.
