I love Chemistry and Physics. Not so bothered about biology. I have to work hard with my maths

My favourites at school were
Very interested – Physics
Enjoyed but second place -Chemistry
Bored in nearly every lesson – BiologyHowever my exam marks at A-Level were
A. Biology
B. Chemistry
C. PhysicsSo I studied chemistry at university as I could pass the degree without being completely bored.
In my job I use mostly chemistry but my knowledge of physics is valuable along with Algebra from maths.

Materials Science. It is what we call an interdisciplinary subject: it relies on knowledge and techniques from so many different fields (e.g. chemistry, physics, engineering, biology, computer science). I love it because it means I can have meaningful conversations with lots of fascinating people from different domains of expertise!

During my undergraduate degree I started doing Computer Science, Maths, and Chemistry. It became clear to me at this point I enjoyed Chemistry more because of the hands-on experiments.

Rebecca Walker answered on 8 Mar 2023:
Chemistry! There’s so many different branches of chemistry that connect perfectly with the other sciences: biochemistry, physical chemistry, medicinal/pharmaceutical chemistry, materials chemistry – you can specialise in so many different areas depending on your personal interests and skillset.

In school, my favorite science subjects were chemistry, computer science and biology. I really did not like physics in school.
Now, my favorite subjects are chemistry and physics because my work draws from both chemistry and physics subjects (that’s why my field is called physical chemistry) and I just find them the most interesting.

Chemistry, of course. It’s the central science. And you can use any additional skills you have to expand into other areas: Physics, Maths/Computing, Biology, Engineering.

Martin McCoustra answered on 8 Mar 2023:
As a Chemist by training I should say Chemistry. But I also like bits of Physics, Astronomy and Mathematics… That’s why I’m a Professor of Chemical Physics. What I like is understanding how things work in the universe from atoms up and you need that blend of sciences to do so.

Chemistry is my favourite science, I enjoy experimenting, making new chemicals, and analysing others. Colours fascinate me, as do the sounds and odours from experiments. Whenever there are fireworks displays, I am really in my element.
Physics was fine because math was my strongest subject.
Biology was my least favourite but I enjoyed Human Biology and Genetics. -

Definitely chemistry – I’m, not good enough at maths for physics, and I like making things myself in the lab!

Christy Sadler answered on 13 Mar 2023:
I love Chemistry (this is what I did my degree in) but have now starting working in a field that requires more Biology!
