I think doing this and winning it twice are among the most interesting things I’ve done in my career. Although when I started I felt that doing public engagement was a bit of a pain, I’ve realised over the years that if you can’t explain your science to the public then you are really losing out in terms of an audience. So I’m always happy to do this kind of thing now… and to win it is the cherry on top of the ice cream!

Getting the opportunity to visit Japan for a conference. Of course the conference was interesting and I got a chance to present a poster of my research, but afterwards my colleagues and I did some travelling around the country and it was a fantastic experience.

Meeting the then President of Singapore at Istana (The Whitehouse) and having high tea with the first lady is definitely one of the highlights of my career.

I got to go to the Solvay Prize 2022 and meet the prize winner – Katalin Kariko. I was in a room full of nobel prize winners too. I so wanted to speak to them, but was a bit scared. If I could go back, I would be more confident.
