They seem to be very curious and intelligent animals, as far as we can tell. Not exactly cuddly but divers have reported friendly behaviour.
The idea of farming them for food is harder to answer. Humans have evolved as predators and it will still be a long time before we stop eating animals lower in the food chain.
I’m not an expert but I think they show surprising evidence of being quite intelligent. In fact there’s an interesting SciFi novel by Adrian Tchiakovsky where he describes the interaction of intelligent cephlapods created by man with humans many generations after they were released on a distant planet.
