Question: Is the knowledge that we have of molecules and atoms today very helpful and lifechanging or would it not matter if we had never heard of what they are/does it help us nowadays that we know about them(molecules)?Do you think there is more to learn?
Medicine is relying more and more on the molecular nature of drugs. We are learning more and more about how chemical substances interact in biological systems and can design drugs to alter that behaviour. We can even reverse some genetic problems but using designer DNA. So understanding about molecules is crucial to the future of medicine. There is certainly a lot more to learn.
Yes, the information that we currently have helps us to understand many processes and interactions between substances for example in the body or materials. Even if we hadn’t heard of them they still exist, you eat proteins, carbohydrates, fats, etc knowing their structures doesn’t affect whether you eat or not but it helps to understand the processes that take place in digestion, such as how enzymes break down the proteins into Amino Acids.
There is always more to learn and as science and technology develop there are sure to be more discoveries.
