Job satisfaction. We all need to work and earn money. If you like your job, then this makes life so much easier.

Yes, you get paid for doing what you enjoy and your work as a scientist is likely to benefit others.

There’s a lot of job satisfaction – whether it is the personal joy of solving a problem you’ve been working on a for a long time in the lab, or knowing that you’ve helped someone by either answering a question or helping to solve an issue they’re having. It’s also a super interesting job because every day is different – there’s lot of different tasks to do and new challenges to tackle.

There are many benefits of being a scientist. I have had the opportunity to travel to many countries and meet many other scientists so we can share our achievements and learn more about all the science going on across the world.

I get a lot of satisfaction from my research, which I get paid to do. I think getting paid to do something you enjoy is a big benefit of any job. Another benefit of certainty academic (university) research is that there tends to be a lot of flexibility – so if you need to pop out for an appointment you can just plan your work around it.
There are also funded opportunities to travel for conferences, where lots of scientists working in similar areas share their research.

You get to use your creativity and problem solving skills. I like that I work on my own and can manage my own time, but I don’t miss the social aspect because I shared the lab with my team and we help each other when we are stuck.

      Science is pretty cool 😀

Science is all around us from phone apps (some lovely rare metals contained in these) to games platforms. Being a scientist can lead to interesting jobs from all different types of maths and science.
