This year I have started to think of being a professor. This is partly due to me chatting online with students like you (!), and a also from working with students in the teaching labs this year.
I feel strongly like I want to have my own lab, and conduct my own research. Even if my ideas on what I want to research aren’t fully developed, this is why one does a post-doc, where they train with other supervisors after their PhD.
I want to have a family and a comfortable life. I want to always be inspired by science! I want to be kind and inspire others, and make the world better perhaps by caring for the environment better.
I turned 30 this year and in 10 years from now, I will be 40! I do hope to have my own family by then. 🙂
Advice I would have for young people is to not rush things- if everything happened when you wanted it, life would be boring. I am having the life I wanted but it has taken a while, for example, to begin my PhD. Treasure your experiences – I am very lucky to be dual national US-UK and I moved to London on a whim. I dream about moving to another country still, and learning another language (maybe French). And, trust in yourself and you dreams!
