Well, I find it pharmaceutical development fascinating. To develop a new product, many disciplines need to work together, from biologist to process chemists, clinical scientists, statisticians, formulation scientists…. and every one’s role is very important. My job as an analytical chemist is very interesting as every new compound is different and we get to use a lot of different techniques! But I also really like learning about what my colleagues do as I don’t know as much about the other disciplines. For example I once heard about clinical trials on an insomnia product, how they let patients fall asleep then woke them up to do tests on a driving simulator to check how drowsy the medicine was making them!
