• Question: Do you prefer the old names for elements (dephlogisticated-air > oxygen) or the ones we use today?

      I prefer the ones used today as these are the ones I am most familiar with.

      The new ones are easier, so better with them. These names do, however, reflect some old misunderstandings of chemistry and some chemical symbols relate back to old names in latin, but its probably not worth changing anything now.

      Names change with usage and our understanding of the elements. I prefer the ones that are commonly used today as these are the ones I know and understand (in fact had to look up what dephlogisticated-air was).
