Hmm! I don’t really know the theory behind this! Sorry.

I’m not too sure, but I think it’s something to do with adjusting the time so we can have maximum daylight during the Winter. I think this is especially important for farmers.

I believe it was to do with getting more hours of daylight during the winter for during the war, but i’m not entirely sure sorry

I ask this every year! Especially when the clocks go forward and I lose an hours sleep! This makes a huge difference to me, yes maybe I am being dramatic but I like my sleep! Anyway to answer your question (which I confess I googled) apparently Benjamin Franklin came up with the idea to change the clocks so if people got up an hour earlier, they’d experience more daylight and can save on candle use! Thank you for inspiring me to look this up! 🙂

The clocks move back because humans decided they needed to so that we could get more time and use out of the day when it comes to winter. Otherwise wed all still be in work and school when its really really dark and nobody would work!
Linked to this question is why does it get darker earlier in winter and that’s to do with the earths rotation and the movement around the sun. When it gets to winter time the UK is leaning in towards the sun so when the earth rotates the UK spends more time in darkness
