I don’t work with viruses. But I have been to a lab that works with some like HIV.

To be honest I have not seen any dangerous viruses. Of course there are some horrible viruses out there like HIV and Ebola and there are viruses like the common cold and the flu which feel awful when we have them but really aren’t all that bad compared to others. I do work with viruses, but these viruses are special as they don’t call illnesses in humans, they only attack bacteria. These viruses are called bacteriophages.

During my undergraduate, I was lucky enough to go to labs that were part of the Ministry of Defence. I didn’t actually see any viruses there, but I was luck to go into the labs that work on ebola and other hemorrhagic fever viruses as they were currently down for cleaning

I would say that the most dangerous virus is the Marburg virus! It causes death in 90% of people it infects and causes bleeding from the ears, eyes, nose and internal organs like something out of a horror film!
My experience with this virus extends to travelling to central Africa to work out “who what when and where” the virus came from!

I’m afraid I don’t work with any dangerous viruses, the microbes I work with are a little more ‘friendly’ 🙂
