I went to the Natural History Museum in London 2 weeks ago, if you haven’t been there already I really recommend it! You’d love it, plus there’s a huge ice skating rink outside it right now too! Anyway back to your question, when I was there I learnt that a huge comet or meteor (a giant rock from the sky) crashed into the earth at a huge speed! When this happened there was lots of dust and this covered the sun, completely blocking it. The earth was plunged into darkness. We all know that the sun is important for all life forms. So because the sun was blocked out the plants died, all the dinosaurs that ate the plants died ( as they had nothing to eat) and all the giant dinosaurs like T rex’s that ate other dinosaurs also died because their food ran out too!
However because it happen so so long ago it’s really hard to tell exactly what happened. That’s why people study fossils. They are trying to understand what happened
The meteor is the main theory, but it might well be a combination of factor in addition to this meteor that lead to the total extinction.
e.g. Dinosaur were less able to face restricted food resources compare to smaller animals. They were not adapted to their fast changing environment.
(does it sounds familiar with what wildlife is facing at the moment? Like the huge meteor, human are inducing fast changes and some organisms might not adapt quickly enough)
Meteor strike again is the favourite here for me. It would explain the sudden death of not just the dinosaurs but most life on earth and the climate change that happened.
