Zoology is a very big area of science, you learn all about genes, cells, microbes and then different types of plants and animals so you build up a big bank of knowledge that can be applied to lots of other areas including medicine. I used to work with animals, looking mainly at parasites but also bacteria and other infections. This has helped me move into a medical field becasue I have a good understanding of how bacteria work and survive within a body, its just now I need to think about human bodies not animal bodies.
Studying zoology is a good idea if you are not quite sure what area of science you would like to work in in the future becasue you get such a good background to science and also maths. Some of my friends now work in human laboratories looking at blood diseases, others are accountants and others still work with animals in zoos, vets, research projects…
