My idol was Michelle Kwan. She was an Olympic figure skater who won lots of medals.

When I was younger I used to do a lot of figure skating and I really looked up to Michelle Kwan because I thought she was a particularly good skater like I wanted to be. More than that she also managed to do well at school, and go to University. She gave me hope that I could be really good at sport and also do really well in school. It was really hard but I loved it and I think being able to wear myself out on the ice helped me do better in school.

My idol was a fictional character written by Terry Pratchett. Her name was Esmerelda (Granny) Weatherwax, and she was a witch in a small mountain village.
I really liked her because she was a powerful magic user, and possibly one of the greatest witches in the world, but she spent most of her time helping the people in her village with illnesses and disputes. She also spent a lot of time struggling with what her own power meant for her descisions on Good and Bad (if it’s Bad to steal, but no one could stop her and there would be no consequences, would it still be Bad?).
She was a made up character, but the ideas she made me think about are still with me to this day.
(And though he was not my idol at the time, I’ve since realised that it’s Terry Pratchett I have to thank for that)

I don’t think that I had an idol. Or maybe it is just so long ago that I can’t remember 🙂
I did have one school teacher who I thought was amazing. Her name was Miss Warner and she taught maths and music. I thought it was awesome to be so god at such different things. She taught me that people didn’t have to fit into narrow categories – we can do lots of amazingly different things.
