The first console I had (age ~8) was a Sega MegaDrive, where I played a lot of Sonic the Hedgehog. Also Desert Strike and Jungle Strike (going around in a helicopter shooting things), and Shining Force (Fantasy turn based stratagy game).
Then I got a Playstation (age ~10), and played a lot of Final Fantasy 7 and 8, neither of which I’ve yet completed (could never get past the last boss of FF8, and never even got past the first disc (of four!) in FF7.
I got an Xbox (original) for my 12th birthday, and me and my friends spent the entire evening trying to beat the first level of Halo (again, original). None of us had ever used a dual-stick controller before!
Then I moved to an Xbox 360 when I was about 14-15? (when did the 360 come out…?) I’d usually play games like Halo 3, Mass effect 1-3, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (such a good game…).
I still have my 360 sitting under my TV (I’m actually scared to turn it on in case it red-rings), but I usually play a lot of games on my PC nowadays. It’s hooked straight up to my TV, so we use it for gaming, streaming videos and movies, and browsing the web from our sofa.
I don’t think I’ll get a console this generation (i.e. Xbox One / PS4). Halo 5 or Uncharted 4 would tempt me, but I’m happy to wait until the price drops in a few years (I tend to play for the story, not for any online multiplayer, so waiting is not an issue).
Which do you have? What’s your favourite game at the moment?
