I went to Edinburgh University in Scotland to study Chemistry and French. My degree was for 5 years, but I got to spend 1 year studying in France. I went to Lille in the North of France and studied at University- I mainly worked in the lab, but I also took some classes. It meant that when I finished my degree I could speak French as well as do Chemistry. Near the end I specialised in medicinal and organic chemistry- that’s basically studying how to make brand new compounds to use as medicines.
After University I did a PhD, which took another 4 years! It meant that I could really concentrate on making medicines to treat cancer.
I loved every second, but it was a long time to keep studying! Do you think you would like to study Science?
I went to university and studied health science then we back and did a post graduate diploma in health science and after all that did a Masters in health science
So that’s a lot of health science and a long time studying but it was def worth it. And as scientists we are always learning so that bit never stops and that’s what keeps it interesting
