My studies have HUGE samples – this summer I’ve collected data from about 16,000 teachers and social workers. These samples are bigger than most research studies. My next project is to design a series of mental health interventions for teachers and social workers, in which case I’ll work with about 1000 of each.

My studies have smaller samples by comparison as my largest study will include 300 participants and my smallest will use only 30.

I am working on a few just now, but my main one just now involves getting clinicians and patients – we need about 40 all in. Not a lot, but they are ‘experts’ – if you get the right people, you don’t need many. Most of mine have been with the general population, or students – usually 200-400 people. Getting participants is always difficult.

It would depend on what you’re studying, where, when, and what methodology you use. For the most part my research has max. 10-15 people each in them.
