• Question: Do any of you trust old psychologists like Jung? Could his archetypes ever help explain to us anything about psychosis in the modern day?

Yeah the work of Jung, Rogers, Freud etc are still used by now loads.

For example Jung’s work is the basis of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (Google it…) which is used in LOADS of the biggest organisations across the world to recruit staff and for staff development etc.

The work of people like Rogers is the basis of positive psychology, which I use in a lot of my research (e.g. employee engagement, which is massive at the moment…).

Freud is still used in things like counselling too…

I used to be quite into Jung, but not read his stuff for a while. He coined a lot of phrases we now use today, such as extraversion and intraversion.

I wouldn’t want to use their original stuff today, but it has influenced a lot of research over the years, and we wouldn’t be here today without them.
