Illegal drugs are bad because they are highly addictive and have negative impacts on your body, social life and finances.

Illegal drugs are generally illegal for a reason – they are known to be dangerous in terms of the health implications; lots of illegal drugs can kill you just by taking them once – that’s a huge risk to take. In many cases they are hugely addictive and this addiction can drive people to acting in ways that are very out of character. Basically, they are illegal because they can have incredibly negative effects on those that take them, as well as their families and friends.

      Hi SalvationG142,
Heidi and Emma are right. Some legal drugs are dangerous too……alcohol and tobacco to name just two. They are legal (depending on your age of course) but they can cause a lot of harm if taken in large quantities.

Some countries have legalised drugs that are banned in this country. For example, it is now possible to use cannabis for personal use in Canada but it is illegal here.

It’s a complex debate and different people have different views but it’s an interesting question to ask.
