• Question: who is your hero or heroine?

      It sounds so daft, but my Mum! She’s always been really supportive of whatever I wanted to and without her help I don’t think I’d be where I am today 🙂

      Dmitri Mendeleev was a pretty amazing scientist hero of mine, as is Charles Darwin.

      Mendeleev’s mother noticed how bright he was and took him to Moscow from Siberia (thousands of miles) to attend university…….the university did not accept him so his mother took him to St Petersburg where his genius was noticed and the rest is chemistry (and the Periodic Table).

      There is a vote at the moment to choose a scientist to be on the new £50 note, I would probably vote for Rosalind Franklin who helped to resolve the structure of DNA but who was overlooked for a Nobel Prize.

      I don’t really have one…. I would have to say the people that gave up their lives during the World wars so that we are able to live our lives as we know it today should all be considered heroes/ heroines.

      I have always been inspired by David Attenborough, from watching Nature Documentaries as a child to seeing him give a lecture last year. He has done some amazing things in his life and his legacy of educating so many people across the planet is awe inspiring. He made me fall in love with studying animals and trying to understand all about life on earth.
