      Hi!
I loved both chemistry AND arts, forever oscillating between “soft” and “hard” areas of knowledge that I think contributed to my current science and how I find it important to “feed” my results back to how we teach etc. Have a look at my profile to find out more – /memoryn18-zone/profile/paulmatusz/ 🙂

While I love science, I was actually really keen on my A-level in graphic design. In particular I remember a project where I had to redesign a building. I picked an abandoned fire station in my village and turned it into a youth club. While I ultimately never went into the area of graphic design I have found the skills learned have frequently been quite useful. History was another subject I loved, and I am still a fan of it to this day. I frequently listen to some amazing history podcasts, including Dan Carlin’s ‘hardcore history’ podcast, which I recommend! (https://www.dancarlin.com/hardcore-history-series/)

My favourite subjects were definitely biology and english. I didn’t get to take psychology until A Levels and even then I think English trumped this! There was obviously getting to do all that reading but I also loved the creative writing. I think nearly every week our school expected us to write and article or the chapter for a story and by the end of school I had a whole album of pieces of writing. Since I was 5 I wanted to be a writer one way or another and that made English an obvious choice to love. I didn’t even mind grammar that much! I was totally happy to learn what an Oxford comma is.
