My inspiration will always be my parents.
My parents were aggressively overachieving- especially my mom. She was a gold medalist kinda student even though she had a very difficult childhood and her family really struggled. She always loved psychology but she didn’t get to do it when she was younger. Then, when I was a teenager and I told her I was interested in it she was so excited!!! My mom always wanted me to follow my passion and my dad is very big on working hard and doing your absolute best! And now my mom is doing what she always wanted, studying to become a CBT therapist. Watching her work full time, study in between, and manage the whole house while my dad is working 70+ hour weeks is a true inspiration.
They both moved back to Pakistan to make a difference and after decades of work they’re making it. I’m privileged to be their daughter and want to be just like them.

For me, is the possibility that my discoveries have the potential of equalising learning opportunities to mostly healthy but disadvantaged children in normal schooling, as well as bringing back fundamental skills to those without them. Here and even more so – is the passion and knowledge and point of view of all the fantastic scientists and practitioners like teachers and doctors around me – it is SO inspiring when all of us are working towards the same goal, and the different perspectives we are holding are so enriching (even if challenging). Have a look at a blog post written by a dear colleague and friend of mine working with teachers on helping them to use more knowledge on science of learning in their work – https://bold.expert/differing-perspectives-but-a-common-goal/
