Hi thank you for your great question. Dreams are likely a by-product of your memories and experiences getting processed by your brain during sleep. As such they may not have any direct ‘function’ or meaning beyond what you might think about them personally when you reflect upon them after you have woken up. As dreams may be the product of your brain trying to make sense of memory fragments they may also feature familiar environments or potentially familiar or probable situations. As such, when things that happen the following day that you saw in dreams is most likely just by chance. In other words it is very unlikely you have developed pre-cognitive superpowers! Despite dreams not necessarily having a function that does not mean they can’t be personally meaningful or relevant to you as a person. Some of my friends keep a dream diary as they find it rewarding and it helps them reflect on things that they might not do otherwise. Dreams can also be very inspirational, and have motivated countless artists to try and paint them (look up my favorite art movement ‘surrealism’ for some great examples).
