It may do one day but I don’t think it will ever happen in either of our lifetimes.

In about a few billion years the sun will start to expand, and eventually start to collapse on itself again, bu we wont have to worry about that 😛

Like Paul says, the sun has about another 5 million years of life left. Before that happens though, near the end of its life it will turn into a red dwarf, which is where it starts collapsing in on itself but then rapidly expands until it’s much bigger than before. When that happens, the earth will be far too hot to sustain life. Let’s hope that we’ve invented space travel and found a new planet by then!

Eventually it will use up all its fuel and that will be it.

It is unlikely that something would destroy the sun. It will most likely run out of fuel in about 4 billion years, expand to become a red giant, go through a few more stages and then fade away.
