I am relatively new to the scientist career so I have yet to discover anything new but I am hoping my current research into people who are on something called dialysis because their kidneys no longer work may tell me something new. If not I have many years ahead of me to hopefully find something new.

In my PhD I made a new way of using just light to sort between different kinds of really small particles, like cells! It is hoped that (sometime in the future) this will be used in technologies to sort between healthy and unhealthy blood cells. But like Laura I am also pretty early in my career, so hopefully there will be many more discoveries to come!

Yes. In my PhD I discovered new things about how our bodies absorb and reflect radio waves, and also some things about what you need to do in order to take good radio measurements. At the moment I’m working on new ways to make images of cancer, using the same or very similar methods to the ones I used and developed in my PhD.
