• Question: What are X-rays and Ultrasounds? Why are they different?

      X-rays and gamma rays are photons, produced from a nucleus of an atom. Ultrsound is based on sound waves being emitted and reflected. X-rays and gamma rays are radiation which can be harmful to a foetus, which is why ultrasound imaging is used for this purpose.

      X-rays are produced using the property of atom wherein if we give it a lot of energy in 1 shot it will give out x-rays……Ultrasound on the other hand is purely vibration of atoms at a specific frequency in a medium. As leila says X-rays can be harmful and so far there is not evidence that ultrasound can be harmful
