      The conclusions are based on lot of accurate data but there are also assumptions we have make about things which we cannot measure, although they contribute to reaching a given conclusion.

      Yes – the aim is to base any conclusions on as accurate data as possible. So you would repeat experiments to make sure you didn’t make any mistakes and you were able to get the same results again. Sometimes, as Dhvanil says, you have to make assumptions about things you cannot measure, such as gravity

      In scientific research we need to look at the statistics of our results to state how accurate and precise they are using known methods. This tells us how much confidence we have that our findings are true and haven’t just happened by chance. We need to repeat measurements several times, or if we’re looking at population data we need to figure out exactly how many samples we need to be looking at!
